Promoting Fair Trade
Promoting ethical consumption and raising consumer awareness of Fair Trade products is a formidable goal, one that our compact Equita team could not possibly achieve without its partners.
Organization involved in Faire Trade are either trading companies or social advocacy and education groups. One of the major difference is that most trading companies will not denounce "unfair" competing products since such aggressive marketing might actually impair Fair Trade product access to the mainstream marketplace. While the Equita team does participates in most Fair Trade events and conferences and works closely with organizations involved in school programs, Equita's approach remains to offer a positive alternative in regards of issues raised more openly and more freely by advocacy groups.
Our parent Oxfam organization has launched a major international Make Trade Fair campaign which address directly global trade issues like agricultural exports subsidies. Other units of Oxfam, such has Quebec's club 2/3, are focusing on youth awareness of humanitarian and environmental issues.
Many other organization promote sustainable development and Fair Trade.
The Equita's team gladly supports their campaigns and events.
