How Fair Trade works
Fair Trade Means:
• A fair price paid to small producers
• A direct link with small producers' cooperatives
• A long-term commitment between the importer and the cooperatives
• Decent working and living conditions
• Environmentally-friendly agricultural techniques
• Direct investment in health and education projects decided by and for local communities from the
proceed of fair trade.
These objectives are met by building a direct supply chain between producers' cooperatives in the South and trading partners in the North under the strict standards enforced by the Fair Trade certification process.
