For 3 billion people, Rice is part of the everyday meal. Rice provides 21% of the calories intake on the planet (as compared to 20% for wheat and 6% for corn). When grown in the South, on small exploitations, rice culture creates many jobs: the life of 2 billion people depend on it.
The Fair Trade and organic certified Equita jasmine rice will add an exotic touch to your favourite recipes. Named Hom Mali in Thai, this rice releases a delicate and natural perfume that reminds us of a jasmine flower. Jasmine rice, just like basmati rice, can only be cultivated in a few privileged regions of the world. The unique perfume of Jasmine rice type only develops itself in a dry and saline ground of de Isan region (Northern Thailand).

The Producers’ CO-OPs
Green Net: Green Net is a network of Thai cooperatives which brings together a thousand families. With the help of Green Net, small farmers can produce an organic rice of quality, without depending on the multinational companies which produce the seeds, the pesticides and the chemical fertilizers.
The small cooperatives transform and pack themselves their rice. This means more added-value and money stays in the co-ops.
In 1996, Green Net established ACT, the first and only organic certification body in Thailand. Today, Green Net is the first and major organic food wholesaler in Thailand.
