Ground cinnamon

More than a simple spice, the EQUITA Sri Lankan curry is a signature seasoning mixing curcuma, coriander, cumin, ginger, black pepper, nutmeg, cardamom and cayenne pepper and their respective virtues.
Often used in Asian and Anglo-Saxon cuisines, ginger adds its aromatic flavour and strong taste to meat, poultry and seafood dishes. It also goes well in mixed salads, stir fries, pasta, sauces, soupes, gingerbreads and drinks.
This tasty spice will give a warm and cordial touch to your desserts, hot beverages and sauces.
Spices

The EQUITA spices are certified Fair Trade and organic. Their production, mixed in with tea plantations, is a good example of integrated agriculture. Cinnamon, for example ; is said to act as a natural repulsive agent to thte pests attacking the tea bushes. Six spices are currently available in 30 g packages (except for whole cloves : 25 g). The virtues of spices are many : most ease digestions, some are antiseptic, all are low in sodium and calories, making them favourites in any healthy diet !

The Producers’ CO-OPs

The EQUITA spices are also a true measure of EQUITA’s long-term and deepening commitment towards the Small Organic Farmers’ Association (SOFA) of Sri Lanka a cooperative of small producers from the region of Kandy ; in the centre of Sri Lanka, which is supplying some of EQUITA’s tea since 2003. This co-op, which brings 350 families together, is harvesting the spices as a way to increase and diversify the sources of their incomes. The spices are harvested, conditioned and packaged on-site and this maximizes the value captured by local producers and hence more is re-invested in local development.
