Changing attitudes towards consumption... and the world
Teaching students how to become pro-active citizens, how to use their political rights and purchasing power to promote sustainable development in Canada and throughout the world should be an essential part of every school program. Either directly or through strategic partnerships with organization such has the "École Vertes Brundtland" and Oxfam-Quebec's club 2/3, thousands of students have participated in workshops and conferences on responsible consumption and fair trade using activity kits developed jointly with teaching professionals.

The use of Fair Trade products within school fundraising activities allows the students to actually become a pro-active citizen, it puts words into action. Furthermore, has the students and their parents generally become enthusiastic about selling a socially positive and gourmet quality product, not just another chocolate bar involving child labor, these fundraising activity are financially successful as well. We call it "funraising".


Getting involved in your community...
Very often students that were involved in a Fair Trade campaign at high school will later become involved in student's coffee shops in college and numerous other community groups and bring their organization to use fair trade products for their fundraising activities or there own use. This phenomenon is most impressive in small and closely knitted communities where a school campaign will often lead to the local food store (gladly) selling Fair Trade products on a continuous basis, in response to consumer interest for these products.
